Equiners ... there is NO LONGER manual draws, that's why people have been losing so much of late as they play against a computerized program that pick the numbers with less players and/or not played at all to maximize profits.

We have the same computerized game in Delaware and it is ran just like slot games wherein the payouts are controlled by the lottery. I have not seen anywhere here where anyone has won more than $10,000. Not sure how many years now that we have had the game, but I just checked back thru 2017 to 2008 listings on the website showing big winners of all games and only found the 1 listing of the $10,000 win for Keno. People do win several thousand at times, but I don't trust the game as a random draw.... [ More ]

The top payouts are a lot lower than in casinos though some of the smaller payoffs like 2 out of 3 are better. The thing is, compared to scratch-offs the lottery Keno payoffs are much better.

people in new jersey are fuious over pick 3 pick 4 fireball game last night 4/22/17 eve i had played 449 st and box with fire ball play, the fire ball was 7 so the fireball numbers were 744 474 447 i played 449 so the firball number i had off of the 449 was 447 i had they say i did not win, for me to collect the fire ball money do i have to have the oringinal number that came out which was 444l very confusing i have had agents tell me not to play fireball no one understands how it works

If the payout is lower than in casinos, the lottery organization is too expensive or the lottery makes a big profit on players. The usual? I don't see a lottery organize a daily French roulette spin with the same payout than a casino. How comes

My understanding is that they no longer use the drawing system created by Tipton. I question why they continue to use computerized drawings at all at this point, but at least they did change the system. Hopefully players will keep pressure on MUSL to change all of its drawings back to real ball drawings.

(This is off-topic to the discussion about the new NJ Quick Draw game, but worthy to mention because of the computerized drawing angle.

Casinos have the only Keno games with live ball drawings, but some use an RNG and some use both. I agree it would be very difficult at best for any state lottery with 4 or 5 minute Keno games to use live ball drawings. The point I was trying to make about cheating players, because Keno is the least played casino game, it would be very stupid for casino owners to risk their gaming licenses to steal a couple thousand from players. here in my state we have a 3.5 min keno draw. its spot 10 has jackpot of $3.3 mill atm , no taxes.. and yeah i am the fool that thinks i can win. $1 entries, i play 2 or 3 tickets a day. will be back to $1 a day when the giant pot is won

You cannot compare a casino to an entire state lottery. At a casino the thing can break down and the people in the casino might be upset, but it's really not a huge deal. State lotteries have to make their drawings go off literally like clockwork, and it has to work perfectly every time. Of course problems occur, and we've all seen videos of errors with drawings, but they are relatively rare, and when they occur they affect the entire state.

The casinos that still have live ball Keno drawings do not have set time limits between, but many of them have a second Keno game that is either 5 or 4 minutes between drawing and use a RNG similar to what state lotteries use.

As for risks, Keno probably has the lowest profit of any casino game and probably ranks at the bottom of lottery games too. It just makes no sense for either to cheat players.

There is no reasonable way to do a lottery ball drawing every five minutes. Quick-Draw Keno games are one of the exceptions in which a computerized drawing makes sense. Another is raffle games, many of which have thousands of winning numbers.

Understood about the risks of a computerized drawing, but the only other possibility is not having the game at all.

Interesting idea but if the draw numbers are electronically generated then the game WILL be tampered with. Either by the Lottery Commission itself, a rogue lottery employee or an outside hacker. If the draw is manually conducted as are the normal daily draws, then the game has a chance to be on the up and up.
