I notice the big jackpot usually won in either California or Tennessee. I think if you live in other states, you shouldn't waste your time playing the powerball. You can look at the history of jackpot win and sees for yourself. I live in nyc and I'm not wasting my money on powerball anymore.

Calif also refuses to use direct deposit, whether for a lump sum or annual annuity payments. It is either mailed to your home or you come in and pick it up. I wonder if when they mail it they at least use express mail? Probably not....

Music: A drop from 12 to 8 weeks is still unacceptable. It's your money, you won.Why on earth should you have to wait? It's not as if you living in a small town with one dentist.So here you are hoping to have a cavity filled, and you told l ran out of filling material it's coming in 2 months from now. Do you highttail it out to the next dentist 200 miles away or tough it out with the only one you got? By all accounts the California lottery only has one dentist so to speak . It's Outrageous.

single payment, it can take up to 12 weeks (from the claim date)

for your check to arrive. If your prize is to be paid in

installments, it can take up to 12 weeks for your first check to

Redd55, I went to calottery website. Clicked on the Win tab and then selected Winners Handbook. Anyway, the wait time has decreased from 12 weeks to Eight and a half weeks. A definite improvement especially for the PB winner.

They changed the law years ago to you do not have to specify at time of purchase. Now, you have 60 days from the time you claim your jackpot to inform them whether you want the annuity or the lump sum. I suspect with no election, it is an automatic annuity. It can still take up to 12 weeks to collect your loot.

Unless the rules have changed since last time playing CA lottery years ago, you did not have specify cash or annuity @ time of purchase. Might have changed. Glad they got rid of that here, a few states still require it.
