Most machines will automatically print a ticket. Say you have $1100 in the machine, you hit for $300, it'll stop play momentarily and print up a ticket so to avoid paying taxes since you went over the $1200 limit. Don't know if LP members follow slots like I do, but Nevada is trying to get the IRS to increase it from $1200 to a higher amount. Very good point because machines don't print tickets if the payoff requires a W2-G. Another thing odd is machines don't automatically print tickets, a light on the top of the machine will blink, and call attendant will scroll at the bottom of the screen.

There is no question that is was a malfunction. Commonsense says that one who plays the penny slot machine can't possibly win millions of dollars. One can't even make millions off of buying penny stocks, unless millions of shares were initially bought and it happen to be a legitimate company that got lucky. There is also no question that the woman won on the spin and she should be entitled to the maximum payout of $6,500 plus lawyer, court cost fees, and interest accumulated.

Just re-read the original article. How stupid/entitled does she think she is? I mean come on, come back the NEXT DAY to see how much she won? You never, ever leave a slot machine you think won on. All the jackpots I won they come quickly, get your driver's license and fill out initial paperwork for you to hold onto until they come with security and pay you right then and there. You also have to present the piece of paper they gave you.

I don't know about that casino but the ones here don't even print out a ticket if it's $1200 or more. That's a handpay because they have to give you the tax form. Why would it print a ticket for 43 mill? No way,Jose.

On the first video, pause at 19 seconds. The 3 is a 8 with a light reflection on it, you can see something similar at 26 seconds with the first ball on the pick 4.

As for the second video, everything fails. They can switch to a computer RNG, we all know computer can fail, be hacked, modified, etc. Also with faster computers and other new technologies, I wouldn't be surprised if someone reverse engineers the RNG.

Obviously went she sat down at that slot machine,she knew she wasn't playing for a $43 million dollar jackpot. Reason, because the slot machine didn't advertise a $43 milllion dollar jackpot! This is an ideal case for loser pays . The Casino should counter sue her to pay their legal fees if she loses, that should be enough to end her absurdity.

Why should the casino do anything? That is their job the way they operate and function. It's obvious that computers and the way the casino commissions have everything programmed. If that was the case there would be more people filing a complaint to the casino commission.

Malfunctions are fine until someone wins. They should pay up as they are responsible for the machines and them working properly, or at least pay the maximum amount. But I bet they don't care about all of the losses they made money from from malfunctioning, only when someone finally wins.

OK Ms. Bookman, you did not win the money plain and simple. She needs to be very careful with this. She is setting herself up for a lawsuit for defamation of the casino, IGT et al.

Interesting how NY takes 1 hour to get ready for the drawing and Pa takes 2.5 hours.

Did you know in Pa., the drawing witnesses get to select the ball sets and machines? How about that there are a total of 15 pre and post test drawings? And that the balls have micro chips inside them so the computer can verify the balls? Wow

Anyone who played slot machines or any lottery game knows you can't win $43 million betting a penny. The machine in the selfie says the machine is printing cash ticket for $43 million and please remove ticket . Had she simply removed the $43 million ticket and if the selfie actually showed the winning combination, she would have a much better case.

The lotteries do have the option of claiming a malfunction when a malfunction actually happens.

Since the maximum payout on that machine is $6,500 it has to be extremely obvious to anybody who's not amazingly stupid that there really was a malfunction. As with so many other things, when she decided to play she was agreeing to the rules, and if she didn't know what those rules were there's exactly one person who bears full responsibility.

It would be nice for her if she received a settlement of $10K. If that is the disclaimer on the machine she was playing. But I doubt it. Just like when you buy an instant ticket for winning so much for LIFE. If you are lucky enough to get that and then decide you want the cash option.
