I hear you. Maybe it went in the washer and destroyed. Perhaps an out-of-stater purchased it and forget about it. Then there's always the glove compartment, something I personally have never done.

The Michigan State Lottery says 97 cents from every dollar spent on lottery tickets in the state directly benefits the state , with 28% of ticket sales going directly to the School Aid Fund.

Here's the thing:

A Jackpot Slots FastCash ticket is printed and played INSTANTLY. The winner should have known to check the ticket BEFORE LEAVING THE STORE. But, oh well. Someone could have had a huge payday and instead tossed it in the trash thinking it was a loser because they couldn't read the ticket right.

Stupid is as Stupid does. Forrest Gump. You can't fix stupid. Losing your ticket is stupid.

How difficult is it to put it inside your wallet. Don't bother signing it, use those few seconds to gather your receipt, change, and ticket and walk out the door.

Doing unto others, in this case, is asserting your right to take your time and be set when you leave with your groceries. You would give that same right to anyone else in the line.

Michigan must have some of the richest school administrators in the nation. Ask any one of those kids leaving 8th grade what 8 X 8 equals? My guess none know the answer to that. Just stare mindlessly into the smart phone.

Where Each Lottery Dollar Goes

* 60 cents to prizes for players.

* 28 cents to the School Aid Fund.

* 9 cents to commissions for vendors and retailers.

* 3 cents for the Lottery's ongoing operations and administrative costs

Out of every dollar spent on Lottery products, 97 cents directly benefits the state.

To me these stories are more sad than those that win and blew the cash over time. Those characters had the opportunity at a better life. Someone failing to check his/her tickets or losing it never got that chance. From 11pm until the results are posted on USA Mega, I have my tickets in hand with my eyes glued to the web page. Perhaps, just perhaps- Michigan is saying screw administration costs etc, our water in Flint is comparable to sewage - let s do the right thing and give 97% back to Education and the KIDS. Hey Flint, buy your bottled water, you have the funds now

Holy smokes...Really ?? $896.2 Million goes to education ???

Even Tennessee gives about 26% to education and around 63% to prizes......which runs about the same in Texas.

That statement seems a bit off to me.....

The deadline has passed for a large lottery jackpot to be claimed and as a result, the state School Aid Fund will benefit from it.

A winning Jackpot Slots Fast Cash ticket worth $519,456 expired on Friday, July 27, 2018, one year after it was purchased. That ticket was sold at the Marathon gas station, located at 17040 East Warren Avenue in Detroit.
