$100 new tickets (50 tickets). I never thought of replaying previous tickets, but you've captured my curiosity on this option. Most of the time I go the Quick Pick route. I purchased the tickets today and there was a line of 12 people ahead of me. One customer spent $200! When I go to Vegas I have a $2k limit. Twice I came back home with $3k and $8k. $100 on MegaMillions I have no problem with. In my house we save the recyclables (soda/tea cans, plastic bottles, and glass bottles). We cash them... Yeah sure if you look at it that was it was a frenzy but I was comparing the numbers from one lottery to another not just from one draw to the next. To me for a frenzy it would have to increase much faster. Like this next draw, after the numbers it might indicate a frenzy, surely we should see one on next Tuesday and positively by next Friday. (considering it makes it that far) From what Ive seen this jackpot run and others before it, the a sales don't scream frenzy . But we shall see

Starting on October 2, ticket sales* were 24.7 million, 31.5 million, 37.8 million, 58 million, and 105 million last night. The 20.2million increase in ticket sales from the 10/9 to the 10/12 drawing was 54% and then increased by 88% for last night's drawing. For the second straight drawing I was in the top 6% by matching one number out of the 15, but none of the three bonus numbers. The bad news even after beating those terrible odds, I won nothing.

Hmm for me it has to be more than 50% for a buying frenzy. PB on Jan 13, 2016 went from $500-900-1.5 billion. That is a buying frenzy. Where as here we saw $550M-667 million. Almost 4x as many tickets were bought back then compared to our last draw. Now pretty soon we will see an actual buying frenzy especially once it reaches past 1.5 (if it makes it that far) IM guessing if its not hit on Friday from luck rather than actual ticket sales we will see a buying frenzy after that.

There were 105 million tickets sold plus another $189,000 worth of the jackpot only tickets. Because it's $2 a ticket, it would take $604 million in sales for every possible combo to be sold if no duplicates were sold. Ticket sales almost doubled from the previous drawing after a 50% increase from the drawing before that. If any thing is shows more people are interested and based on the first estimated jackpot revision, I'm pretty sure a buying frenzy started.

I understand what you're saying/how you feel about it. Yes it is ridiculous,

but, we don't know how the government (the one that takes 25% off the top),

may earmark any portion of it.

So, please don't say not a dime , just, at least buy 1 or 2 tickets, OK, and then

as with most/all of us here on LP, we may likely not win anything. But keep the old

tickets, as you would your old Rolling Stones concert ticket stubs.

The reason there hasn't been a winner yet is because we as a country spent $210,196,810 on that draw. Assuming that like 100% of the tickets were $2 that would mean that about 105 million tickets were bought which isn't enough to have bought every single ticket. What's more is the fact that if each state uses a bank thats independent of another meaning that in NY there could be 15 million tickets that were bought all with different combinations while in Rhode island there were 500k but each of t... I used to spend $10/week but after price went up I spend less. Now, I only play when JP is huge(one goes $500M+).

To those that are complaining about odds and not going to play and etc.... To me, when I put money in to lottery either home/work, It's all fun just like going to $5 movie matinee on a weekend. And talking about which hero we think is going to die and what happened in the movie with my son on the way to and back from movies all makes it worth it.

It comes down to timing.

When to play is as important as:

How much to play?

What numbers to play?

Where to get the tickets?

Do I use a System, Wheel, Quick Pick, Lottery Post Quick Picks Generator, Ouija, Mystical, or Pray Like the Dickens?

From our chart, you could visually estimate to wait about 10 draws before playing, but that's our opinion.

Some jackpots are won before 10 draws and some after.

We'd take the after, saves money.

For me, it's worth $6 per week from now on until someone else or I hit the JP. Again, I am going to play for pure what if I win entertainment value.

Win it, split it between brothers, invest/put away to live comfortably, think and work on how can we improve life for those that are closest to us first and others afterward.

Well, the jackpot growth hasn't been impressive.

When you take out the inflationary starting jackpot and put all other jackpots on a level playing field, this growth is average at best.

The previous highest jackpot grew much faster and with less cost to the lottery player; $1.00.

We leveled the jackpots on all other rollovers to a baseline starting pot at $1,000,000.00.

Mega Millions is a slow roller and I think that selling only a third of the odds if that goes to show you how hard it is to win this dang jackpot. I bought $9 worth of tickets on Tuesday night and got one number on two tickets so this time I am spending $3 and hoping for the $200 level and up for my luck on the ticket. ...following a $667M jackpot that sells just over 100M tickets.

Not very impressive.

This happened because the odds of winning are closer to zero than any historical lottery, and it would seem people are getting that.
