On big lotto nights, I just check the CA Lottery's Twitter feed or listen to the news to see if anyone in my area has won. If so, I check the ticket. If not, I check a few days later to see if I got any of the numbers.

l don't think there is anything necessarily wrong in him checking his tickets every three months, just as long as he knows where they are before they expire.

Some folk like to check their tickets immediately so the pain anger sets in, and quickly passes through their minds, while others like yours truly, will wait a little while before checking. 6 weeks to check tickets. Out of habit I check my tickets same night after the drawing. Could never wait that long

Yes they did BD. It was back in 2012. It got my attention since it was in my neck of the woods, and kindled my interest in the lottery. Prior to that, it was more of a passing interest. That interest led me here, to LP.

Never underestimate the sanctuary of your car. I have come to have a new deep respect for vehicles. If you misplace your winning lottery ticket(s) you at least know it could be in the visor, glove compartment, under the floor mats etc. You at an advantage with the square footage to search.But in the house.. oh brother

The CA Lottery was successful in at least two cases. The winners were found.

I hope that they use that method as a last resort. Another tool in their toolkit.

There are inherent problems with the videotapes. They could be hours off. Not showing the actual winners.

I will remember to wave my tickets in front of the cameras next time I buy some.

OTOH I don't like when Lotteries out folks. Specifically the California lottery when they reviewed a tape of where/when the jackpot was sold and plastered it all over the media. If not mistaken I believe they said that would never happen again.

People who throw away lottery tickets are not the sharpest item in a bag of cotton balls, so I wouldn't be surprised at all that they do a media interview, and they'll probably give money to strangers who ask. They'll be broke in 5 years.

I just don't get it... why would someone buy a lottery ticket and never check it? Do they expect a lottery official to track them down, telling them they won

The UK Lottery has a subscription service, which means your tickets can't get blown out the window of your van.

The British Lottery also offers a direct debit/credit option. Players can choose the direct debit option, paying monthly by direct debit.

All small prizes are automatically credited to the same account. I know of any other lottery which offers such a service.

Congratulations to the lucky couple. What a fantastic Christmas present, and tax-free too.

However, they made a huge mistakes in going public. The UK National Lottery allows winners to remain anonymous, they should have taken that option.

Hopefully, they will be strong enough to resist all the letters begging for assistance.

He admitted this was not really safe , adding, I've had them blow out of the window before but, luckily, this one didn't.

Sounds like the ideal lottery player from the point of view of the government.

A builder who stockpiled lottery tickets in his van discovered he had won 76 million (US$86 million) in the multi-country EuroMillions game six weeks after the winning draw.

Andrew Clark, 51, from Boston, Lincolnshire, said he was taking early retirement after discovering the winning ticket tucked in the visor of his Peugeot Expert van. Boston is a town and small port in Lincolnshire, on the east coast of England, approximately 100 miles north of London.
