			<description><![CDATA[<p>The Wire Act (placing of interstate bets or wagers on any sporting event or contest) passed in 1961 was aimed at organized crime. At that time there was no Internet or any legal gambling outside of Nevada. In 2011 the Justice Department limited the scope of the Act to interstate sports wagering.
