You're complaining that your chances of being the sole winner is higher? Less tickets sold = all the benefits for you except smaller rolls but does that really matter at this level

KY floyd, it looks like MUSL hasn't learned a thing from their huge mistake last year!

I'd hope they'd know more and be better at forecasting sales than we are. On one hand I'm considering that the PB sales last October were somewhat depressed because a lot of people had just spent more than they should have on the huge MM jackpot. OTOH, we've never seen a jackpot that got so big that players ran out of spending money and bought fewer tickets for a huge jackpot than they did for the previous... [ More ]

Ticket sales are not even close to what they used to be for big JP. An example was last week when after 23 rollovers and an advertised JP of 550 mill they sold 142 mill in sales. in Feb Of 2015 it had rolled 20 times and the advertised JP was 450 mill They did 379 mill in sales and the jp ende up being not 450 but 564 mill. Insane to think not only does $625 million not make news, but that it didn't spark a buying frenzy. Went to the gas station Friday evening and there was a line of people...buying gas. One person bought scratch offs. No one bought PB or MM. Felt like I was in the Twilight Zone. No one seemed to care. No one mentioned it. Ditto at Publix.

On Oct 23, MM hit $1.5+ billion bucks and was won. I'm sure lottery fatigue and the fact someone finally won MM, had an adverse effect on PB the following night.

The interest rate is significantly smaller than last October's jackpot so it would need even more sales to get enough cash to reach an annuity of 750.

Last October 24th the jackpot was $620 million and nobody won. MUSL announced the next jackpot as $750 million, but people forgot to buy enough tickets, so when the jackpot was won on the next drawing it was only $688 million.

Maybe sales over the last few days have been better than expected, but to actually make it to 750 sales will have to be al;most twice what they were from a similar starting point only 5 months ago. Even if sales have been higher than expected I'd think last October's ex... [ More ]

I definitely believe that the more numbers 31 and lower that are drawn, the more likely a large pot will be claimed and split amongst multiple winners.

Tons of people who manually pick out numbers randomly are going to include numbers 1-31 both because they feel like having only 32+ is unlikely. Also, significant dates, which often form people's lucky numbers are going to require at least one of these number. 7, or any number ending in 7 is going to be more likely to be chosen by players... The jackpots may be larger these days but even winning a couple of bucks is rare for me. It was those small wins that kept me playing regularly. I found the time it took for last Oct.'s super jackpot win annoying. Apparently, a lot of people did, too, since sales dropped off dramatically. I use to enjoy rollovers, now I just want it to be over. We cant all be Mavis. I wonder if she got back together with her ex-bf

Given the steep odds and slower growth I'm sure it's going to become more common, but so far it has never happened for PB. The current record for most drawings until somebody won PB is 24. That run started on 5/11/16 and was won on the 24th drawing, when it had grown to $487 million. By comparison the record jackpot was more than 3 times as much when it was won on the 20th drawing, and Mavis Wanczyk won her then record single prize on... [ More ]
