Watched The Green Book on blu ray last night with the Mrs and thought about this line in the movie. It's possible that Mubarak, Abed, and company were following Tony's interpretation of living in America..

I like what you did back there, Doc. You stood up for yourself. It s like your friend the President says, Ask not your country what you could do for it, ask what you do for yourself. You know

Many of the store owners who had their licenses suspended after offering to help winning players out for a price were caught in sting operations run by state officials, who used undercover investigators looking to sell tickets and bogus Daily 4 tickets that would appear to be winners if scanned at a lottery terminal, records show.

Really, what did the state officials do? lol .. Busted

Perhaps the 3D barcode took care of this problem. Not sure wish state it was but they'd scratch a tiny line across, scan the ticket and losers would go back in the mix. With 3D technology that way of cheating out the window! Thanks for clarifying it.

So Abed was crying! Funny how the thought of he s pregnant wife did not cross his mind when he shortchanged a customer. Many of these corrupt store owners have been dodging nuclear bullets for years when caught, they remorseful, or so they say. What did they expect, a Please don t do that again, this is your final warning.

This action is no different from restaurants in this neck of the woods being closed down because of rodent droppings, roach sightings on property while serving customers.

I'm not sure about other states, but I don't think this is possible in Michigan (or ever was). To validate a ticket you need the ticket barcode (printed on the back in plain sight) that identifies the ticket and you need the validation code. The validation code is printed in plain numbers under the scratch surface and the validation code is also encoded with the ticket number in a 3D barcode under the scratch material. I don't see how a small pin scrape will reveal enough of either the plain num... [ More ]

Stupid crime that just isn't worth it. Too many safeguards in place these days.

Have a question about scratch tickets: I can remember not too long ago that some shady retailers would take a pin and scratch through the barcode, scan and keep the winners. John Q. Public doesn't notice the tiny scratch and buys losing tickets. Have the lotteries fixed this problem? In reality criminals would figure out a way to beat the system no matter what.

Includes video report

A Detroit gas station and convenience store owner scratched hundreds of instant game tickets the Michigan Lottery sent him for sale to customers, trying to identify the winners so he could buy them himself and claim the prizes, officials say.

For each package of tickets, Mubarak Morshed calculated whether the total prize money exceeded the purchase price. If not, he reported the pack of tickets missing. If yes, he purchased the tickets and sought to collect the cash,
