Thanks for clarifying what I was trying to point out. You're right, the expected returns are better the more expensive the play is. The $1 play has a return of $0.6297 per dollar, the $2 play a return of $0.6519 per dollar, and the $5 play a return of $0.6788 per dollar, just using the numbers from the table. No, he's talking about the odds of the random prize amounts appearing below your chosen number. They do not scale proportionally like pick 3. At a glance it looks like you get a better return with a $5 bet than five $1 bets but I haven't done the math.

If I were a c-store employee I would love this game because I could buy a ticket for myself after a streak of low prize amounts on tickets I printed for customers. I'd have better odds of getting a big prize than customers buying theirs at rand... [ More ]

If you put $5 on a single number, the odds are the same as $1. But if you put $5 on 5 different numbers, the odds improve in your favor because you're covering more of the spread. That's reflected in the overall game odds.

Here are the odds of all the random prize amounts. It's interesting that, for instance, the odds of winning $25 for a $1 bet aren't the same as the odds of winning $50 with a $2 bet, and both are different from the odds of winning $125 with a $5 bet.

Random winning amounts, you already know most of the si called random amounts will be between $5-$20, there won't be many tickets that have $250 or more as the random winnings amount, very little incentive for the players, just like ga five with those sloppy payouts, other states similar games have more options for players to win back there money,

It's a shame what greed will do, bad business is never ok,

They introduced Georgia Five the day after I finished my graduate degree at UGA and left the state. When I compared the payouts and the odds, I said, I would have written them a letter of complaint over the payout structure had I stayed in Georgia. Suffice to say, like Powerball and Mega Millions, they rip off non-jackpot winners.

For those interested, Cash Pop is Georgia's first computerized drawing game, dropping the state lottery to a grade of B on the State Lottery Report Card.

(BTW Stack you are correct, this game supplanted the All or Nothing game in the Georgia Lottery game lineup.

The article doesn't say, but apparently Cash Pot is replacing their All or Nothing game. It was a fun game to predict but very difficult to win something. And considering the game sales averaged less than $16,000 a day or less than $4000 a draw, probably was time to retire the game.

Never had the chance to play lottery games in Georgia, but just looking at what they offer, it's near or at the top of all state lotteries.

It's clear that lotteries are trying to come up with different and unique games to attract players. There are some people that aren't interested in big jackpot games, and like daily games with better odds and different twists. Nothing wrong with that.

I think it's actually kind of a neat twist to have the prize be one of nine random amounts. Would it not be rather exciting to see a $1,250 prize on your ticket? The wait before draw time might be somewhat agonizing when you know you have a 1-in-15 chance of winning $1,250!

Even for the $1 ticket price, it would be pretty great to have a 1-in-15 chance of winning $250.

Ok, for this GA Cash Pop... Odds are 1 in 15, according to the article, you can play all 15 numbers...at $5 each, that would be $75...and the winning number nabs you (edit: up to ) $1,250....and you can do that up to 5 consecutive draws.....

Prize expense for Cash 3 decreased $13.8 million in fiscal year 2018 as compared to 2017. This is consistent with the 5.1% decrease in gross sales over prior year. Prize expense for Cash 3 increased $3.4 million in fiscal year 2017 as compared to 2016. This is consistent with the 1.3% increase in gross sales over prior year. The actual prize payout experienced was approximately 46% and 49% for fiscal years 2018 and 2017 respectively.

Lotteries are becoming giant vacuum machines that suck money out of people's wallets. PB/MM are $2 instead of $1. Scratch-off tickets cost up to $50. The new Georgia game costs up to $5. The fun is rapidly dissipating as the cost continues to rise.

IDK about any lottery pulling a game that fast. They're not always noted for mea culpa.

Here we have Quick Bucks which is terrible but the KLC asked me to try it which I did and that was it.

We have Fast Cash or whatever it is called and you win instantly from a retailer/lottery machine. It gets up there fairly quickly. Other states offer it too, a shame they don't all band together to get larger jackpots. Also has varying wagering amounts.

overcome 15-1 odds just to get your number drawn and then probably get 5-1 payoff. the rare times you get a higher payout under your number posted will be frustrating when your number doesn't get pulled. game is designed to drain money from unsuspecting players who don't understand odds. you can play a one digit number in most states now (odds 10-1) and payout (in ma anyway) is between 7 and 10-1. they think that offering a pie in the sky payout once every 100 times you play it will lure in cust... Congrats Georgia Lottery for Cash Pop ! Sounds like fun.

I am comparing this game with MM PB. Cash Pop players need to match 1 number out of 15 and that appears to be difficult. A MM or PB player needs to match 5 + 1 from a field of 69 +26 for PB

and 70 + 25 for MM with odds of approximately 300,000,000 to 1.
