			<description><![CDATA[<p>In New Zealand, any winnings are tax free.<br /><br />You pay the government its share (tax) when you buy the ticket (12 cents on every dollar spent for Lotto .).<br /><br />Profits (It being a government run lottery) are distributed to various &#x27;deserving organizations (22 cents on every dollar. 55cents on every dollar goes to the prize pool.<br /><br />I believe this is the same for Australia, UK, and just about everywhere where they don&#x27;t tax winnings...<br /><br />NB: Australia has a Federal system... In countries like Australia having a national lottery, they keep the sales profits and probably why they don&#x27;t tax winners. In the U.S. where individual states have a lottery and a state tax, they are actually double dipping.</p>]]></description>
