Well Todd will have to update his lottery standing list. Powerball up to $550 million; seems like old days to me and loving it. Watch out California..your secondary prize is way up there...much better than Powerplay this time around, in fact over 2X higher.

It's the cash value that the lottery starts with, and then it calculates the annuity based on prevailing interest rates.

I know how it works. That's why I commented about a cash value increase of about $7 million being reported as a $30 million increase in the advertised value. I think most of the other people here know it, too, but the advertised annuity value is what we see most from the lotteries, and I hear there's also a well know website that uses it more than the cash value, titling a... How do they figure this out? Why wouldn't always be the same?

The cash to annuity ratio has been dropping lately, and I was disappointed to see that the $30 million bump in the advertised value for Friday night was only about a $7 million increase in the cash value. Still the current cash value is almost 74% which is substantially higher than any previous top ten jackpot.

I believe some people will be pouring all thier stimulus checks and hopes into winning one of these lotteries. I can imagine the dispair that it will cause them, especially if someone won both jackpots. Be careful what you wish for.

Only play for fun and make sure you can still be happy if you don't win it.

Calculating the cash value as a fraction of the annuity is like a dog chasing its tail. It's the cash value that the lottery starts with, and then it calculates the annuity based on prevailing interest rates. If you simply look at the increase in cash value and ignore the annuity you will have a much better sense of how fast the jackpot is growing.

KLC just repeated the same offer on FB just now....time to play...maybe.

Am thinking of using the Covid-19 vaccine trial debit card to buy 16 draws of PB MM with their appropriate multipliers. Did not know one gets paid for it through J J. I think I got the real thing, not a placebo because felt awful the next day. Unlike mRNA vaccines, this is one shot and you're done deal using the same technology as the Flu shot.

KY Floyd in re to your second paragraph, do you think record low mortgage rates and that like have a bearing on cash value?? IDK.

Want one of them to reach the 1 Billion mark so I can snap a picture of the fairly new KY LED billboards vs saying 999 million!

Waiting for the KLC to have an offer on MM like they did for Friday's drawing; buy $10 worth on-line or in store and get one free. You can imagine my result but DID TRY!

Those are numbers that plenty of people might choose or be happy with, but there's not getting around probability. There was only about a 1 in 5 chance of a winner, and probability did what it tends to do.
