Here's the crazy part, if an Alabama resident so happens to win, the state will want their portion of state taxes.

Governor Ivey's study group finally published their 876-page report on gambling last month.

It has a lot of Captain Obvious observations, but also a lot excellent data and good discussion of all the obstacles in front of a state constitutional amendment to legalize gambling once and for all, such as the albatross that is the Poarch band of Creeks. Good read.

An informed reader makes an educated one. I have permanently put my prejudices against Alabama Governor Kay Ivey in regards to the lottery to rest.

Now lottery locked Alabama, put this to the voters and let them decide---and then just do it. Maybe they could take tips from Mississippi who carefully researched the lottery if memory serves me correct and are doing fine from what I've read.
