It's only there that we can figure out whether we crossed the line or are going to cross the line.

One of the rules is Criticize ideas, not people.

All the cashing, validating, and collecting anonymously advice we're reading is from people that probably never won enough money playing lottery games to even get a W2-G.

I wouldn't want my name and address known if won multi-millions, but I can only collect in the state where I bought the ticket. If someone wants to collect anonymously, they should check the terms and conditions before buying a ticket.

A passport does not show one's address.

The address on your drivers license is supposed to be your domicile, and that's not necessarily where you live. For lottery winners and anyone else trying to keep a low profile for any reason living someplace other than your domicile is useful, but for ex-pats or people who live in an RV (or any other vehicle) t... [ More ]

If the state allows you to claim a prize anonymously, by all means do so.

Here are my thoughts:

Claim the prize in the name of a trust, limited liability company (LLC), or another appropriate legal entity depending on the state. Of course, retain proper legal counsel in this matter. Do not have your photograph taken. Refrain from all news media interview requests.
