If the $62500 was all their income it would be Federal tax = $8097.66 + state tax 6.9% = $4312.50 Total tax = $12,410.16 (ignoring any possible deductions) leaving cash in hand from that $62,500 of $50,,89.84

If they were earning say and additional $27500pa (total = $90k)

Federal = $14,237.42 plus state tax = $4315.50 = total tax on that extra $62500.. $18,549.92 leaving $43,950.08 after tax (ignoring deductibles)

Drilling company employees almost hit the jackpot

A group of 16 coworkers from a drilling company in Missouri hit all five numbers in the Powerball drawing on Nov. 8, just one number shy of the $150 million jackpot.
