The lottery will always come up with a number nobody has until the matching set of the possible odds are sold. The video shows the tickets being printed with the logo of the Louisiana lottery, a big L, but the reporter says they were printed in Dallas. I think RC's is headquartered in Louisiana, so I'm not sure she's right about that Dallas part. Louisiana Lottery website shows no jackpot winners, no 5+0 matches, and a single 4+1 match. I suppose those 50,000 tickets have plenty of smaller wins among them, but probably not enough to cover the cost.

Actually, you have no way to know who their data center provider is, because Cloudflare is proxying their provider's IP address.

To say they know what they're doing is probably the opposite of the truth.

I once saw an even dumber comment about the lottery, on Reddit I think. A person insisted that if two tickets won the jackpot, with one held by an individual and the other held by a lottery pool, the jackpot had to be split equally among the pool + the individual. Meaning, the individual holding a winning ticket got the same amount as each person in the pool.

Unbelievable that the official Mega Millions website has been down all night, since the draw time!

Lots of people on Twitter saying the site crashed , but that's not the case, given the error message displayed.

It actually points to whoever is running that website has misconfigured it, so it's not crashed because of traffic, but it's offline because someone hasn't figured out how they messed it up yet.

It's most likely that they were trying to put up one of those high traffic simple... [ More ]

When fewer people play, there is probably less of a chance for being multiple winners of the jackpot. But, for all other prize levels it doesn't matter how many people play or win since the prizes are predetermined.

A lot of people don't play when the jackpot is low and wait until it's higher.

I play every draw (with multiplier.) I would prefer to win a higher amount, but I will take whatever comes my way.

CBS has a story that the CEO of Raising Cane's bought 50K Mega millions tickets and promised to share the big one with his employees, all 50K of them.

Is it the numbers on the ticket that match the numbers drawn or is it the numbers drawn match the ones on the ticket?

Think about it.... from the moment you purchase a ticket, it will either be a winner or not. Is it fate or coincidence that you win?

If you had purchased a ticket one second before or after the numbers printed on your ticket would be different.

You can get a quick pick, play numbers that you've been playing for years, or pick numbers at random. It doesn't matter!

All that matters is that the numbers drawn match those on your ticket.

Remember...it only takes one to be in it. Be in it, to win it!

Anyone can request data from an official state lottery. The website mentioned (which I have removed since they are an abusive website that actually hates the lottery) simply requests the data from the Texas Lottery. So if you want a copy of the sales data for any drawing, just request it directly from the lottery. By doing so, you don't rely on a website as a middle-man. Get it from the source.
