I'm too lazy to go to the gas station and ask for a ticket and shade numbers Lol. I might try to buy 2 tickets at a time from the quickpick machine to see if it would give different numbers.

NY website reports it as 999.3, which may be more accurate than the estimate at the drawing time. Especially when there was no bump and Wednesday's jackpot was announced as 1.2 billion I thought it might come up a good bit shy, but as it turns out Marisa Tomei had a better take:

You were not in a managed account and had a self manage option. If you win hundreds of millions, it is going to prove difficult to manage it unless you have a low risk super conservative portfolio. Most clients choose the managed accounts since their financial knowledge is often limited. I manage my own also but if I have a half a billion, I might need some assistance. I am not a registered investment advisor and the mark of an intelligent person is understanding where your own expertise begins

In fact one time I called them and they were upfront about costs and the person showed me on the computer how to do it for free which I did. Got a nice review from me saving me lots of money. Even though picking the cash option would give you perfect anonymity, if you win the lottery in Texas, your plan is to take the annuity since you're anxious about managing the after-tax lump sum.

If only there were a team of people you could pay or have on retainer who's main profession is to manage their client's estate. /S

Imagine if the same thing happened in Powerball for the Billion $$ jackpot.

Those 52 winner in NY represent roughly 1 of every 10,000 tickets for that drawing. To reach an even billion will require selling about 130 million tickets, so if 1 of every 10,000 used the numbers from the previous drawing we'd have about 13,000 winners. They'd each get about $38,253 before taxes. I wonder how many would quit their jobs before finding out they need a job to pay the bills?

I've purchased a few tickets, but not recently, at the Shell station in New Buffalo, Michigan, where someone just won $1 million. Pretty sure it's the first gas station you encounter if you're entering the state via I-94, and it's often busy with people from across the Midwest.
