why only USA do this crap, steal money from winners, this is not an income to tax it.

for every draw they collect trillions.

let's say the collect one billion for this draw, how much they give back and where the rest go, remember, as players we spend the same amount and more for most of the players, and how much they add to the stake?, just peanuts.

It doesn't take nearly as long to search records for 181 million tickets (especially split up into separate databases for each state/territory) as it does to search records for the 351 million tickets MM sold for the 1.28 billion jackpot in July.

TX is showing a forecast for 197 million tickets which would mean about a 51% chance of a rollover, but as slow as sales have been I can't imagine that this time around they won't make it past the target. Not accounting for all of the calendar numbe... [ More ]

Unbelievable... And BTW...#23 as the PB has shown up 2 previous times this year and according to the TX lottery website its the lowest drawn PB drawn starting on 10-07-2015 through 11-02-2022. ( 22 times )

I believe it was 1.21bn. so not much of an increase.

It's a perfect storm to have a record annuity jackpot.

If it rolls, it will be a record. Don't think 2bn, but at least 1.7. and it's a Saturday draw which is their highest sales day.

Me? I'm not predicting anything, but the TX lottery website is forecasting sales of 181 million tickets. If they were all chosen randomly the chance of at least one winners is 46.2%, so a rollover is the most likely outcome by a small margin.

They're also listing the actual jackpot as 1.24 billion, but I don't know if that was the original forecast when the worksheet was first posted on Monday afternoon or if that's been updated.

My eldest brother same as you, well, he is late 50s, so tipping sixties already shall be sixties in 20 months, so he want to retire in 6 or 7 yrs., with a nice nest egg he says. We are 2 decades apart.

I think it's got a very good chance of setting a record if it hasn't already. We've had 38 rollovers so far, which is at least close to a record for PB (and maybe MM).

That we didn't see an increase in the advertised jackpot today makes me think it's not going to get much past 1.2 billion, and that makes me think that even with another rollover it might not set a new annuity record by Saturday. Of course that would only be a pretend reco... [ More ]

Ummm placing a qualifier like a 2 in front of record is a different situation.

I would hate to explain to a judge why I referred to something as a record when in reality it was only top 25. Misleading at best.

When the jackpot is won it might set a record for the ratio of advertised annuity value to cash value. Right now that ratio is hovering above 2.01.

The top 25 cash value lottery rankings was the database. The ordinary everyday phrase it is a record does not refer to anything less than the #1 ranking. If you say someone set a record for yards rushing, it is referring to the number 1 spot, whether it is for the year, the team, or the entire history of the sport.

Not really the case. It has to do with sales. The people who run the lottery are not at all concerned with the mystical and numerological significance of dates and particular numbers drawn. But playing according to numerology is no better or worse than quick picks.
