Yes, the winner was very trusting of the store clerk. However, it was wise to get a safe deposit box.

It was good to seek professional advice from the private banker. Remember to always check out the background and references of any professional you want to hire after that big winner. Of course, never invest in anything you don't fully understand. If you need a second opinion, hire another professional.

It is wise to be discrete and to assist those less fortunate.

Excellent point.........I also hopes he does not forget the first cashier who suggested he buy a ticket. I would make sure he or she got a nice little X-mas bonus.

Here we go again! Player hands his winning ticket over to the clerk without knowing the value of the ticket. Recipe for disaster. He's lucky the clerk didn't say congratulations you won 70 bucks, here ya go.

A Calgary man has made history by becoming the first Albertan to win $70 million (US$52.3 million) playing Canada's Lotto Max multi-province lottery game.

Mitchel Dyck was the sole winner of the Oct. 21 Lotto Max draw, having matched all seven winning numbers.

Dyck said he doesn't typically play the lottery, but said yes when a cashier asked if he wanted to play. He discovered his windfall on Nov. 7, when he asked a cashier at a local store to check his ticket.
