At 173 million there was actually a 56.5% chance of a rollover, but the most likely thing doesn't always happen.

Smaller sales might be partly explained if there had been 10 winners for the last huge jackpot, but I can't imagines a sensible reason why a single winner would stop anyone from buying a ticket.

Ticket sales aren't very robust. Last draw only about 37% of the possible combos were covered. Seems like the Powerball fiasco last year has ruined people's affinity for the lottery. Also, it's after the holidays so not as much disposable income is available for people to buy multiple tickets.

Well Cassie, you and your dad are both 100% wrong. You both have no idea about the ratio of tickets sold in those alleged lucky or rigged states as you put it compared to yours apparently. Just check the population of those states compared to each other to get an idea of how many times more tickets get sold. Never mind the fact that the per capita income is higher and they have more discretionary money to purchase tickets than an ex Appalachian coal miner might.

Luckily in KY for in store purchases ONLY if you hit the big one and have a group they will cut separate checks. An IRS form (don't know the #) is required. KLC will not honor this for on-line purchases thinking that just one person bought the ticket?? Don't remember how many separate checks they will cut...will send them a FB msg about this. 1. Do you mean give them money to be completely debt free, shortly after you get your check ? ( payoff of house,car,personal loans,credit cards etc etc)

I can see helping out a friend if they need help but I do not have to take care of friends. I have a couple of friends who tell everyone they will take care of them if they win a huge jp. My response has always been that I do not need to be taken care of. I have done well financially. I would feel bought.

BB, honestly, we all know it isn't really $1.3 Billion(should you chose the annuity) due to what you get removed for taxes(24%) before a check is cut.. When was that last time a winner took the annuity ?? 2015(I believe, on the PB)....

So $707 Million and change, minus 37% Fed tax is probably the real figure or roughly $446 Million change take home.
