Publix Neptune Beach Florida is where ticket was sold.

Somehow that rings a bell and remember a Publix somewhere in FL sold a huge ticket, believe to that elderly woman someone let go in front of them in line and bought the winning ticket. Her, her Son and his boyfriend plastered all over the place.

There were only 7 second prize winners. Thought there would be more then 7 but tickets sales are a lot smaller then in the past when there were big giant JP like this. Last July the advertised Jp for a drawin started out at 1.02 billion and they had ticket sales of 703 million. Tonights advertised JP started out at 1.55 billion and they only had ticket sales of less then half of that 703 million. Why do so many talk about the billion jackpot amount so much? You have to win it first...I don't care if it is 1 trillion ..advertising annuity jackpot amount is part of their bag of tricks...no one gets that amount so why even mention it..advertise the cash only and leave it at that.. When it comes to random, I've actually used more than one random number generator to pick my numbers. I used the terminal plus a couple of different online random number generators, which will appear to the Lottery as if I picked the numbers because I had to fill out playslips for them.

Whether any of these methods will work, I'll have to wait and see.

I disagree,

The point of playing the lottery is win a large sum of money.

Joining a pool when the jackpot is very large works towards that aim.

With the just the jackpot the pool gets more tickets and more chances of winning the jackpot.

Now of course, there are many people in this group that believe buying more tickets does not increase the chances of winning. I hope you are not one of those.

Let's say there are 20 people in your pool and you get the five white balls which would normally be worth $1,000,000 (or $2 mil or more if multiplier is purchased) your pool gets ZERO, ZILCH, NADA, $0.

So now, in stead of everyone in the pool getting $50,000 (or $100,000 or more with Megaplier) you don't get anything.

Sorry, but Just the Jackpot is not a great option at all.

Ticket sales for Powerball and Mega Millions were slowing prior to the pandemic. The pandemic gave them an excuse to lower the starting amount to $20 mill. And, they no longer have to guarantee a minimum bump between draws. Prior to the pandemic it was $5 mill for Mega, and $10 mill for Powerball. Now that they've made the change, they aren't able to change it back unless all states that participate in the MUSL also agree to the change.

If my initial personal amount is 477M plus.

But as a result of reducing taxes through charitable giving my new personal amount is 333M plus.

I don't think I will have saved 100M in taxes.

I would have lost 144M in personal amount.

The 227M once given to charity as an endowment doesn't belong to the winner. Yes you could have it in a Donor Advised Fund but still one can't revert it to themselves.

Its my understanding you can use 30% off the top to create a non profit. That would be 227,160,000. Then total federal taxes would be 196,114,800. Your personal amount would be 333,925,200. But you would also have the $227... avail for charitable causes for a total of 561,085,200. If thats correct you could save almost 100 million in taxes.

Here's how it goes.

The cash option is 757 million.

Before you see any of it, the lottery agency will take out 182 million and send it to the IRS for the legally required tax withholding.

You get a check for 575 million.

You still owe the IRS an additional 98 million no later than next April 15.

That leaves you with 477 million.

If there are no winners Tuesday i wonder how high the next drawing will be for.

I'm surprised that it's past 3 on Monday afternoon and they haven't bumped it up yet. The last increases was roughly $250 million, from 1.1 to 1.35 billion, so you'd think that this one would increase by at least that much and that by now they'd have plenty of sales data for the confidence to announce a higher jackpot unless sales have been a bit lackluster. Let's be honest here. You have a better chance of winning the lottery than taxes going down. Another thing to consider, federal taxes are due to go up about 2.6% in 2026. And, unfortunately, I live in Taxachusetts where they just increased the income tax rate from 5% to 9% for those that earn $1 million+ per year.

One of the flip sides of taking the annuity is that you are only certain of the current year tax bracket.

In the following years, the tax could go up, go down or remain the same. That's one of the gamble as far as taxes are concerned with annuity.

With a win this high it doesn't really matter because you'll be getting paid more than the max for all filing status, so you'll be in the current 37% tax bracket for the next 29 years if the tax brackets remain constant.

That would be a great idea.

However, I think and I could be wrong, that they base the duration 29/30 years on the interest earned. That's why the cash option is significantly less because that's the cash in hand. The annuity option on the other hand is based on returns on the invested amount.

Thus they need a bigger window for that and probably buy the 30 year Treasury Bond.

So if you take an annuity I thought you'd be in a high tax bracket year after year?

The way the annuity is set up I don't see why many people older than 56 would take it. They really should offer a choice of annuities with 20, 25 and maybe 30 year flat payments along with the one they offer now.

I don't see who, in their right mind, over 60 would want an increasing annuity. The annuity payment structure right now on both PB and MM is very ageist
