that second-place prize, all 11,688,054 possible combinations were covered again,, wow 7 winners! each get 1 mil. and same for the third place prize 81 winners each get 50k.

except in California? the prizes are not fixed they are par-mutuel 2 winners split 1,220,123,

Last time the powerball was 1.2 billion on a Wednesday 11/2/22 ...

That one went from 800 (bumped to 825) to 1 billion. Not quite a year later instead of an increase of 200 million we got an increase of 110, from 850 to 960, and the higher annuity to cash ratio is inflating the advertised prize by about 6% relative to that run.

The cash value for tonight's drawing was estimated at 551,700,000 and the actual is 548,000,000.

That would mean they beat the 1.2 billion advertised jackpo... [ More ]

Last time the powerball was 1.2 billion on a Wednesday 11/2/22 sales were 366,180,580. Tonight the estimate sales were 182,602,202. For a difference of $183,578,378.

The cash value for tonight's drawing was estimated at 551,700,000 and the actual is 548,000,000.

I collected enuff cans and bottles to redeem for $1.50 ......

I had hoped to have had enuff for $3.00 cuz I wanted to purchase powerball w/ power play ....... well I got chatting with a fellow bumpkin at the register behind me who had $1.60 coming back to him . He never plays the lottery .... he uses the $$$ for the bus ride back to the bridge he calls home.

Long story short .... I convinced him to combine our two monies and invest in a $$$$ billion $$$$ opportunity . We tore the ticket

I didn't look at what day the last time it was the same amount. But the last time it was 1billion the sales were roughly 100 million more than this past draw. Overall I think it's just Jackpot fatigue and everything else costing to much money.

This is from the Idaho Lottery website, wow! must be their way of generating lottery revenue. Each ticket is automatically 3 dollars. wow. so instead of 5 tickets being 10 bucks, its 15 dollars.

Each play costs $3. Pick five numbers between 1 and 69. Pick one Powerball number between 1 and 26. If you'd like random numbers, ask for a quick pick. Sales are definitely down for this size jackpot

Mondays are always slow compared to the other drawings, but tonight is Wednesday and they haven't raised the estimate at all. I'd still have thought it would finish out a bit higher, but a roll will mean an advertised jackpot of just 1.4 for Saturday. At this rate I'm not sure we'll see 2 billion by next Wednesday, assuming it keeps rolling.

Yes, I laughed quite a bit when Idaho first implemented the change. They stated that it was because they were looking out for the best interests of the player because the player ends up regretting not getting the Power Play option when they win a lower tier prize.

Yes, it's Idaho. They call it bundling for your convenience as though that makes it better.

I believe that Montana has also begun bundling the powerball. I wish MUSL didn't allow that. If you're gonna raise the price, just raise it nationwide instead of trying to manipulate players.

I believe you're referring to Idaho. They automatically force the Power Play option onto the player and up the cost of the ticket by $1. There is no option to opt out.

Solid advice. There are some players that think buying a boatload of tickets will do the trick, but it wont because it cant.

Even if you could afford to buy $100,000 worth of tickets, (50,000 lines if you dont buy the PowerPlay) doing so pales in comparison to the possible 292.2 million lines/combo's of 6 numbers that could be drawn. There's probably somebody out there that could afford to buy $100,000 worth of PB tickets, but that person is probably be smart enough not to do it. G5... [ More ]
