First of all I do not live in SC.

The bill if signed into law is poised to set a precedent and authority for the diversion of public funds to other private legally disqualified schemes.

The Governor (and lt Governor) are Republican.

Republicans control the South Carolina General Assembly

The SC Supreme Court is elected... Which probably means Republican..

So, don't fancy the chances of the bill failing...

This country is so screwed.

Instead of improving public schools and paying the teachers fair wages they chose to have the money rotted to the pockets of handful of rich ppl.

Why don't you improve public schools enough that ppl would want to send their kids to public schools instead

The South Carolina Senate passed a bill Tuesday allowing low-income parents of private school children to receive financial support, similar to what public school kids have been receiving for years from the state lottery.

The K-12 Education Lottery Scholarship would use funds from the South Carolina Education Lottery to fund scholarships for private schools.
