The phrase I'm buying new shoes is likely a reference to the common gambling exclamation Baby needs a new pair of shoes, which is often said by crapshooters to summon luck . Let me hit the lottery. If someone wins the lottery and states that he is going to buy a new pair of shoes, it tells you that his priorities in life are whacked.

What does it say about somebody when they act like they know all about somebody based on one innocuous statement about buying some shoes? I'm thinking that maybe I should go ahead and buy 3 brand new 10-packs of socks and drop the 30 old pairs in a clothing drop box, but I don't really need all those new socks at a cost of $60. Nope, just stating facts. If someone wins the lottery and states that he is going to buy a new pair of shoes, it tells you that his priorities in life are whacked.

This loser is going to be one of those people who files for bankruptcy after winning the lottery because he has no control over his finances.

He took the lump sum not the annuity.

Having recently claimed his prize at Lottery headquarters in Lansing, he chose to receive his winnings as a one-time lump sum payment of about $22.8 million rather than take annuity payments for the full amount.

The age of the winner is irrelevant, because the prize is a 30 year term certain annuity, not a life annuity.

lottery is a scam

Lump sum should not take so much out compared to annuity

they knew that older people play more because they have more money than young people

he won't have enough time to spend this money because he got maximum to decades to live!

and annuity is 30 years

The all time record for Michigan 6/XX games is 45 some odd millions divided by, I believe, 3 tickets.
