Calling her dumb as a rock is too kind. She is a criminal and most criminals have low intelligence. Stealing from an elderly customer is as low as it gets.

I'm pretty sure a clerk where I go all the time stole a Fantasy 5 jackpot ticket from someone. I went in the other day bought a ticket and mentioned to her I had bought a $5K winner there the other day (see in FL Scratch off thread pg 844 near the middle) she told me she had won a Fantasy 5 from there a year or so ago. I asked her was it a QP and she said YES. I looked it up on the FL Lottery website and it was NOT a QP. She always acts shady when I cash winners there and 'accidentally' forgot t... [ More ]

You hand the ticket to the clerk. They scan it. If it is a winner the amount you won shows on a screen right in front of you. What more can be done.

It's really amazing that people are playing and winning large sums of money and don't understand how to cash a ticket. In KY, when checking the same type of pick 4 win, scanners and kiosks will show the amount won and to suggest taking the ticket to a cashing agent. Tickets over $5000 but under $25,000 in value can cash at a super cashing agent. Tickets over $25,000 must be cashed at lottery headquarters in Louisville.

That's why there's a Ticket barcode Scanner on the front counter,..so ticket holders themselves can determine whether they're holding a winning ticket...as some some clerks are dishonest..

Why does it always seem to be happening here?

Florida Lottery retailers should have future employees sign up with LP for their better interest.

To read the Lottery News Forum articles daily for 2 weeks minimum to see what employees are trying to get away with trying to scam customers across the country.

And to show them what could happen to them if they were to try this BS on customers (unsuspecting or not like Willie Lee Corley Jr )

Had the clerk actually claimed the ticket, The Florida Lottery would have deducted $648 from her winnings for Federal Income Tax purposes, netting her $2,052. Trading $2,052 for possible jail time?

But she'd never have seen one thin dime of the money anyway because the money would be returned to it's rightful owner. Kind of a lousy deal if ya ask me. G5 .

A Walmart cashier was arrested after a customer presented a winning lottery ticket worth thousands and pocketed it instead of returning it.

A lottery retailer employee was arrested on a fraud charge after she kept a winning ticket a player was intending to claim but argued that she was ignorant of regular lottery procedures and was intending to return it anyway.
