Brooks purchased his winning ticket in late April at the Han-D-Food Market, located at 1629 Bradyville Road in Murfreesboro. He chose to purchase a multi-draw ticket, meaning that his one ticket with his one set of chosen numbers was good for multiple Powerball drawings. He purchased his multi-draw ticket for five draws, and won on his third. His ticket is still valid for the next two Powerball drawings.

When Daniel Brooks, Jr., a HVAC Technician from Shelbyville, Tennessee, purchased his $100,000 winning Powerball ticket, he did so by choosing numbers that were all birthdays and ages of his family members.
