No, that wasn't the record jackpot - it may have been a special drawing, which wouldn't qualify. There's also the Millenium Millions jackpot, which was much higher, but that too does not qualify as a NY Lotto jackpot.

states make the odds to win their lotto jackpots so high to create huge strings of drawings without a jackpot winner, and when the jackpot gets high, more people will play, which will cause an even bigger rollover, which will generate more sales, and the chain will continue until some lucky stiff (or stiffs) wins (or win) it.

I agree that there are several negatives, when compared with other state lotto games, but I think that 1 in 22 million odds for the top prize are not bad, especially for the largest lottery state in the USA.The odds for winning the jackpot compare very favorably to other states like California (1 in 41.4 million), Texas (1 in 47.7 million), and Florida (1 in 22.9 million).You will find others here who complain about the NY Lotto, and there are valid complaints, but when the jackpot gets this lar... The NY pick 6 lotto is pathetic, and most NYer's would agree with me. The odds are horrible, the rollovers are horrible, but the thing that really gets me is the lower tier prizes, they are just downright insulting. Every time I see a commercial or hear an advertisement for the NY pick 6 lotto I just cringe. Sorry for being so negative, but I feel like we Nyer's deserve better.
