I perfer Mega I go once a month to NJ to pick up tickets. We seem to get small winners with that game over Powerball. With all the states in Powerball that pot should grow faster, but it does not.

It was a quick pick ticket that was purchased it could have hit anywhere. Just because it was New York only means that that person was the lucky person to draw those winning numbers.

According to information at lottoreport.com, NewYork with a population of 19,157,532 usually spend 2-4 times on MegaMillions tickets as any of the other ten states selling the tickets including Texas which have a population of 22,193,711. Since NewYorkers account for 20-25% of total ticket sales, odds are they are going to be 20-25% of the winners.Since I also play the lotteries for entertainment as well to win, I frequency pick large groups of numbers just for fun and check them after the draw... While each state might not have and equal population of players. The chance of winning might favor the states where the most people play. However the winning number doesn't care which state it hits. It's all about the odds of the game and the selection of numbers drawn.Yesterday I saw a news broadcast and they were showing some peoples ticket purchases and the play slips they were filling out. It goes by population. Of course the higher population states will have the most winners, as more people in that state buys tickets.

I was just curious if anyone know where I can find information on how many times each state that participates in mega millions have sold the jackpot ticket? It seem as though the jackpot goes more frequesntly in New york, Maryland, and Illinois, which is starting to deter me from playing.Thanks for the info. in advance
