If you increase the matrix, it doesn't necessarily mean harder to win overall. If Powerball became 5/55+1/40, and they added a free ticket prize for matching 2 white balls, then the overall odds would be 1 in 11. Just 2 behind Hot Lotto's 1 in 9.

I'd keep things the way they are. Not only does making the jackpots higher make it harder to win the jackpot, but it makes it harder to win overall, so they should not change the matrix.

in powerball and mega millions if you had a choice between adding more numbers to the game and a higher matrix for a bigger jackpot(say 400 million) making it that much harder to win,or would you keep it the way it is but with the understanding that the jackpots wouldn't increase much to record levels
