NY had a special game, Millennium Millions in 1999 and 2000 which cost $2 per play; you lost if you matched only the millennium ball.

Well, Lotto Texas is competing head-to-head with Mega Millions (with Megaplier), which is structured the same (Pick 5 then 1 more), but is easier to win and has bigger jackpots. Maybe they should try to distance Lotto TX from Mega Millions by going back to 6/50 (call it Classic Lotto Texas). You gotta have variety in the kind of games you offer. A simple difference in payout won't make much of a difference.

FL Mega Money also didn't give out prizes for matching only the bonus ball. But they have changed it so one can win with only the Mega Ball (whose name predates the Mega # in CA Super Lotto, and Mega Millions

This may have already been discussed here...I don't know, because I mostly go to the Pick 3 forum.
