Justin: The 1 in 2,432 are the odds of winning that particular prize. Think of it as a measure of how difficult it is to win. The 1 does not have anything to do with the numbers that you match, it is merely the manner in which the odds of winning that particular prize are expressed. It's like flipping a coin: there are two possible outcomes (heads or tails), so each time you flip the coin, your odds are 1 in 2 of getting heads. The game you cite is a 5/36 lottery, similar to the game of the same name played in Florida.
