Looking at some of the posts now I know why some people have high post numbers.

I'm trying my luck with quickpicks in the Canadian games so I'll see how it goes. Best I did in Powerball was 3+1 with my own numbers. Only played $20 in Mega since it arrived in WA state since I keep waiting for it to roll. Tried my own numbers in Euromillions and won exactly nothing.

Good points, LckyLary! While I still play some lottery terminal generated QP's, I play more of my own numbers, which are based on analysis of previous drawings.

The Pocket PC sounds like a good idea. I've never used one before - can you run the same programs that you run on a desk top PC

Quick Pick is assumed to be the lottery terminal using its RNG to generate the numbers. Even numbers coming from your head are influenced by past results that you vaguely remember or by trying to give the numbers a good spread .

My algorithms run on a Pocket PC so that I can generate sets on the spot. That saves time. I only spend time to modify and improve the program. I never won anything more than 3 dollars with a QP, but have won better prizes using my systems.

I agree. For the purpose of this poll, I would think that the definition of a "quick pick" would include all of the examples you listed. Any non-analyzed, randomly generated combination that you play would be a "quick pick." So you're right - "quick picks," when lumped together, would greatly outnumber "selected" numbers.

Usually, I have more luck with selected numbers. But I have won a little bit with quick picks. Back in January, I bought 5 Lotto South QP's for one drawing and one matched 4/6 for $91.00. I've also won several smaller prizes with QP's. And some free tickets, now and then. I usually play one QP on panel E of my bet slips, with panels A-D being my selected numbers.

Bevspicks, computers are programed to give every number an equal chance wereas the powerball drawing machine works differently. Not every number have an equal chance. I looked at the data and i found out that some numbers rarely come out. One number came out three times in two years and the rest of the numbers came out at least 20 times, this rings the bells.

If you let the computer pic the number for you, the computer might give you that number that came three times in two years.

I use quick picks for 80% of my plays (mixing theirs with mine.) Putting my money where my mouth is....I hit on the average 1 -4 straight hits out of 13 possible draws each week. I have used the LP QP quite often. No significant difference, on the take home money, then the stores QP. The major advantage it has, for me, is I can reject numbers I don't feel right about. In the store, a QP is their way, or the highway. Select 30 or 40 QP option, and choose the five that fits your mood. I also match it against what the current pattern happens to be.

here in maryland it sems if you put the qp in board ab then your own numbers in board cde you get a better selection in board ab.

when you put your own numbers in board abc... then qpick boards d/e have the same like numbers in boards abc. Which could be a good thing except i don't like it when the quick pick generator gives you the same start number as your own picks.

i wish we could pick 3 of 5 and let the machine do the other 2 digits but thats not going to happen.

Something strange has been happening with my Cash 5 picks in NJ. I use a slip with one number a QP and one where I entered the numbers. The last couple of weeks, the QP tends to be close to the number I entered.

here in tennessee we have the option of picking some of our numbers and letting the machine pick the rest on the powerball.i usually do this every blue moon........

Your stats are correct because a greater number of people simply choose quick pick rather than working a system to select their own numbers.

However, a study a few years back showed that people who have some sort of system (all the way from using birthdays to sophisticated systems) and choose their own numbers to play do YES win more often ..... although there are fewer of those who go to the trouble.

That's a shame they kick it out. Why don't you start a petition for them to change their software so it will do a QP on partial selection??? IMHO people would spend more $$$$$ if they had it set up like that. Better to spend the extra $ on a number or two you're pretty sure will hit than leave it up to an RNG at the terminal to give you what you should have.

Mr Bobb, Yes, read it, interesting stuff. konane I wish Illinois had that but it just gets kicked out by the machine. //////////////////////////////// I've noticed on some QP's when the results come in it will be missed by one, missed by 2, missed by 1 etc...So I've thought about going an extra $1 or $2 and doing the up and down thing using the QP numbers as a base.That would still be a guessing affair though as to the ups and downs in the right sequence.

Not sure how other state's software is set up but in Georgia (excluding Cash 3 4) you can pick part of your numbers for a specific play and let the computer select the remaining numbers for that one ticket. Pretty cool in my opinion especially if you're feeling only a couple of numbers
