SandyLantern, I like old shoes.............I wear one pair of sneakers till they get holes in them...........not that I can't afford a new pair......I just don't want a new pair. I hate the breaking in process.Me too.You know, guessing lottery numbers is an art too.

Sandy said All the work people and my husband tell me not upgrade........get a new computer because when you upgrade all little pieces of the prior one are left behind and you can never clean it all up. I think that they are right. All I know for sure is I hate Compaq (HP) computers........had 2 in my life and both were junk. Good luck, Lantern.All my husband's work friends when they come over laugh at me when I say I like my ME.................I have Windows 2000 on my laptop.....I like that also...............I really have had no exposure to Windows XP except when my husband's laptop is up and running and I only glance at it while he is working. I am glad that Todd helped, not having had that problem myself with Win98SE I would not know how to fix it.And I am afraid that Todd is also very much right about WinME.But like you, I like my Win98SE, even so I will either build or buy a new computer sooner or later, maybe this year sometime, I think I will build it, because I want to learn how, I think that I already know how, but have to do it to know for sure and if I don't then I will learn as I do it, I have all the info that I need alread... Alrighty.........here is the message when I click on the IE 6 install....... A previous installation has pending work requiring a reboot. You need to restart your computer to complete that installation before running Internet Explorer setup. Setup will now close. Someone just Pm'd me and suggested I remove IE 5.5 and then install 6.0...I just don't know if it is worth all that. 5.5 Lantern...................Todd, I am not upgrading because a new computer is on the agenda this year. WinME really hasn't given me any problems....I don't blue screens and actually has been very good to me.Lantern, that is the problem......I am trying to install 6.0 and it won't let me...

SandyOn the top middle left of your browser says Help next to Tools, with your mouse left click on Help and a menu will come down from Help, move down to where it says About Internet Explorer and with your mouse left click on it and it will show to you the version of Internet Explorer that you have installed, you should have :Version 6.0.2800.1106Cipher Strenght: 128-bitIf you do, then you are O.K.Not being there with you, is hard to help from a distance.Good luck.If you don't see the Version 6... I am very sorry to have to say this, but Win ME = the worst operating system Microsoft ever made. I don't have a direct answer, other than (1) I'm sure there's some registry entry somewhere that needs to be reset, and some intense Googling should track it down, and (2) upgrade to WinXP.

I need some help from all you computer whizes................I am trying to install IE 6.........I now have IE 5.5. My ISP upgraded and said I need to have IE 6 to have all the features on my home page.Here is the problem.
