Why can't winners in USA chose to be anonymous? Is this a federal rule or is it like this because the lottery commisions want the publicity the lottery and the winners get?In Norway you got the possibility of being anonymous if you want.

I worry about the relatives, and exboyfriends that will come out of the woodwork with their hands out. I've already decided if I'm ever lucky to win, I'm only telling my mom. I would hook up immediate family (sister, brother, niece), then I would give some money to my grandpa, because he still sends me money for xmas every year. The rest of my family can keep their jobs!!!! As for exboyfriends.........pucker up and kiss me where the sun does not shine buddy

That if I won $40 million and gave family and friends a one time only gift of $11,000 each (the most you can give before recipient has to pay taxes on the money) they would think I was a cheap bastard for not giving them a handout every year. Heart attack. I know that if i were to check my ticket and found that i won a big jackpot the my heart would beat faster than if i had ran the 100 yr dash. I have been thinking it might be a good idea to get one of those small bottles of O2 just in case.

Even if its paid out in a lump sum, your still going to end up putting some of the money in an annuity. What really stinks is that when its paid annually the state lottery is making interest on your winnings.hahahaha.

My biggest fear after jackpot win would be the agonizing pressure of trying to decide how to reward the person behind the counter who sold me my ticket. If it was a quick-pick, shouldn't the person who pushed the button and printed out my winning ticket deserve a nice tip? A very nice tip!
