I was just thinking. If they used the 5/71 + 5/17 format, they'd have to buy new drawing machines. The Criterion can only hold 64 balls.

Chief,5/63+1/24 = 1:168,692,328 overall 1:22.75/71+1/17 = 1:221,338,453 overall 1:16.55/56+1/46 = 1:175,711,536 overall 1:39.85/56+1/46 sounds more realistic because the overall odds of getting $2 back is more real. In the first two, the lower prizes would be won too often to have a lot of money left to contribute to the jackpot amount and the idea is to create larger jackpots faster.RJOh
