The best thing for a state to do is just not advertise Powerball, just advertise in-state games. The big jackpots will sell themselves, Powerball needs no advertising (well it might right now). When Florida finally joins PB (they can't join MM because they're full up after CA joined), it should be done with absolutely no fanfare, and no advertising. Just a small press release, and that's it.

Exactly, the pie remains the same size no matter how they try to divide it up. When Florida went from one to two draws a week the starting prize was cut in half and is rarely won, it rolls over and then we have the real start at 7 mil as before. The only way the lotteries have found to bring new money into the games is to offer ever bigger prizes. I totally agree with you LosingJeff, a multi-state will give the Florida Lottery the revenue it needs to stay around, don't you guys realize that the Florida Lotto base jackpot is a lousy three million it used to be about eight million ten years and not to mention that sales are not that great. I don't want Florida to lose it's lottery, a multi-state game is the way to go.

I live in Florida and I hope they never offer a higher odds pick-5 plus extra ball game like powerball. Not only is it much harder to wheel for, the odds keep going up and the big prizes you won't win suck money out of the state games. I'd rather see some winable million dollar games in place of one in a billion bs sucker games.Put some thought into it. i e-mailed the FL lottery a while ago, and they said it would happen within 3 years, but they are worried on the impact it would have on their in-state lotto. FL needs to understand that the players want to play a multi-sate game, and that the big jackpots that a multi-state game brings in will generate more sales than those that will be lost when theFL Lotto jackpot, which gets hit just about every drawing, so the jackpot does not get too high, has to decrease.

I think florida would join Megamillions. Since there are no bills pending on the issue it's not going to happen any time soon.

Did you take a look at the computerized drawings petition? You should support it so that your state does not go down the dark path that other states have.

I have started a petition for the Florida Lottery to join a multi-state lottery alliance so that Floridians like myself can play either Powerball or Mega Millions.
