I believe the auditors can figure that out. If that wasn't auditable, computer drawings would be illegal. Computer drawings have to pass certain tests (except in the case of Indiana, where they admit the pick 3 and pick 4 drawings are fixed). A letter from the MUSL in this thread - https://www.lotterypost.com/threads.asp?tp=98302 - explained how computerized drawings do not have to compromise integrity. Have faith in the states.

Underground lotteries use things like the total rake for the day at a racetrack. I'd be interested in seeing a state lottery use this method for some game. Daily Derby seems like a logical choice.

I think if they went with computerized drawings they would loose out on the big marketing potential of having live drawings for record jackpots. They could have celebrities draw balls live on tv at some famous location to draw more attention to the game for record jackpots. If it's a computer drawing then no big potential marketing push. The whole point of these games should be to generate money for the states that participate.

Remember that Powerball was thinking of going computerized. If they do, you can bet that Mega Millions will follow. People will still play even if they go computerized. As long as people lust for millions of dollars, they will not care how the numbers are drawn. I would still play even if they went computerized.
