The best odds for a $5 scratcher I've seen in NY is Million Dollar Mania at 1:4.58... the sad thing is as of 5/15/05, there's only 2 Million Dollar Mania top prizes left, and only 1 Max A Million top prize left. Personally I'm not gonna pay $5 to try to catch a $5,000 second prize. I'll just wait until a new batch comes out. Also, I hope they're not lying about the 1-2 top prizes left, only to keep the game running longer to try to sell off those second prize tickets. I mean who would know... [ More ]

New York has awful scratch tickets. The odds are unbearable. The best odds I've seen is for that Max-A-Million game, and that's counting the free Mega Millions play.

I draw the line at $5 per ticket regardless of the odds because if the big winner has not been placed in the town that you're buying your tickets, you're not going to win no matter the number of tickets you buy.RJOh

I've noticed on average when I buy tickets if the odds say 1:4 I usually win something if I buy 6 tickets, however, if I buy 4, chances are I don't win anything. I think some people get overall odds confused. If every 3rd ticket was a winner there would be a lot of cheating going on with retailers too.

even though a book of tickets may have great odd of winning some sort of prize the odd are miss leading. you might get three winners in a row then no winners for 12 more tickets . then get one winner ever other ticket for three trys. then no winners for 10 trys. If the odds were exact and say for instance 1 :3 then every third ticket should be a winner but that's just not the case.

In TN the odds are great. I've seen other states and I'm not impressed. TN's 5 dollar ticket odds range from 1:3-1:3.3. $10 range from 1:2.46 to 1:2.6. Pretty good in my opinion.

Interesting. I was just looking at scratch tickets in my state last night. I didn't notice any $5 or $10 ticket with odds at 2 points. Lowest I saw was a $10 ticket at 1:3.70.... maybe when NY has $20 tickets (not that I want a $20 ticket).
