CO, I really like you. I'd have to agree with Chief on this one though. I see it this way. One never knows which game will be won with the BIG hit. It may very well be El Cheapo NY Lotto jackpot night for YOU tonight!I understand your annoyance at NY Lotto's cheap lower prizes, and I agree with you there. I just think I have learned a little from all this lottery playing/losing. F_ck whatever shyt nylottery throws at us via their crappy payouts/games...

I agree there need to be more games where there are jackpots in the 250k-1 million dollar range, where you have a hugely better chance of hitting opposed to games like mega millions which are impossible . A perfect game is Wisconsin super cash. Roughly million to one odds to hit for 250k. If only they would jack up the payout percentages a game like that would create nice daily revenue for a state. Until states though jack up %'s, state lottos and smaller take five games will never grow.

MegMillions really puts the screws on the 3rd prize, where the odds are about 70 times more than the associated prize. It'd be nice if they introduced a middle game between the mega-jackpot games (PB, MM, LS) and the 100K pick 5 where all the prizes had the odds were always in proportion to the prize awarded, such as 4-million-to-1 odds for a 2 million dollar prize, 500,000-to-1 odds for a 250 grand prize, and down the line.

I agree, and I do play both just like CT, I play Powerball and CT state lotto. Although it's a low jackpot, CT lottery odds are pretty decent when compared to other lotteries. Play both or as many as you can with a reasonable amount of money sounds like the best way to increase one's individual odds. LOL.

There's really good points/bad points about both games. Another perspective is play both games. Chances are luck/fate has you winning, if any, only one of those jackpots, Which game will it be, if any?Play both

acronym007,Some members, especially Cash Only, are fervent in their belief that a jackpot winner should be allowed to change their payout option on a jackpot win at the time they claim their prize (rather than when they buy the ticket), and that the lottery should pay out in prizes at least 50% of the revenue that comes in. The New York Lottery does neither of those things. So they try to penalize the lottery by constantly harping on those two negative things, and not taking anything else in... [ More ]

The jackpot odds are the ONLY thing that's better about NY Lotto. Why spend money on a game that returns ONLY 38%-40% to winners? The OVERALL odds are better in Mega Millions, and (except for CA) you're guaranteed to win $2 if you match the Mega Ball, v $1 for three numbers in NY Lotto.
