I doubt any of those lottery directors are crying. Their lotteries all made a ton of money on this run. And they all know that bigger jackpots lay ahead. Their goal is to have very high jackpots occasionally, not everytime, so I wouldn't be so quick to call this run a failure. They got exactly what the wanted. Yep, if it happened to Powerball, it could happen to Mega Millions. Those lottery directors are only lucky that the MM players aren't quite as lucky as the PB players.

12 lottery directors are no doubt crying in their beer. They figured the new odds, 1-177 million, would ensure a long string of no wins and really big jackpots.I'm no math expert, but seems to me that history shows that millions of the many million combinations in just about every lottery game never show up. Yeah, I'm not even playing Powerball until the Illinois Lotto is busted. As a new rule of mine, I buy one less Powerball or Mega Millions ticket than usual for that drawing if I'm also playing the Illinois Lotto (therefore, Powerball must be at least $75 million and Mega Millions must be at least $90 million for me to get even one ticket if I'm playing Illinois Lotto). I've got my ticket for tonight's Illinois Lotto drawing

Damn the illinois Lotto is a bigger stack than $12M its hovering around $13M right now so its not even worth playing MM until the IL lotto is busted, odds are like 20 times better. You'd have to buy 20 times the tickets to get the same odds in MM than IL lottery. I thought i won for sure too, i had all the #'s and i remembered i had all those #'s and the same MB # but sure enough they were all split up into different tickets

I would only care if they were giving me a gift out of that prize. I think it was $ 103 million in cash, and about $ 60 million after taxes. They'll need a good estate planner since the estate tax goes back up in five years. The exemption will fall back to $ 600,000 and the tax will rise to 55 percent.

This is the first draw in a while that I've seen the numbers spaced out in a more regular fashion. The other draws would've been harder to predict because of the big gaps.
