10%? I never mentioned 10%. I mentioned giving 1/5 of what the elite give. In this case, Her Holiness, the elite, makes $500M a year. Considering the jackpot was around $100M. 1/5th seems like a reasonable proportion. Assuming a five year total, thats 2.5 Billion dollars. I'd donate 1/10th of what Oprah donates out of her personal account. Not what she donates on behalf of some one else. I have heard she makes more than $500M a years, times several years. Her, and her fellow multi-millionaires (like Tom, Jen, and the rest of her guests) could afford to rebuild most of NO on their own, without the government putting out $300 Billion.Yeah, 1/10th would be porportional.

I would not just sit on the money. Sure, you could do all those things that you mentioned...but why do those things? Investing in and running my own business, whether it be a franchise or any other business, would make me happy. I would invest in the community in that way. First I couldn't believe any current lottery would get that high. As far as my first reaction would be one of disbelief. I don't check my tickets but if I heard the winner was someone that wheeled tickets and the winning ticket was from Seattle I might check the tickets quicker than usual. Otherwise I would completely blow off my job. Might show up to get a few people's phone numbers but otherwise my motivation to work would go straight to hell.

I would still work, just not a 9 to 5 for someone else. I would invest in some franchises and some real estate. I would give a portion back to the Lord. I will be completing my BS in Information Systems Management this December so I would continue my education afterward and get a degree in finance. Money management would become a real concern. If you're waiting for a 500 pound lottery that will be a long wait unless the pound starts to resemble the Mexican Peso or Turkish lira. Even Euromillions will probably never break 200 million (US dollars). But at least its cash and tax free which is more than you will get out of any US lottery.

I would buy two houses, one in Pleasanton and the other in Hayward where I go to school. I would also donate to Vietnamese charity because of my religion Buddhism.
