My comments were towards those recieving a dos attack. Most important thing people can do to prevent it is keeping their computer up to date on released patches and having an anti-virus software runnning that is also up to date.-----All that I have to do is turn my PC off and then back on and it cleans itself, almost like the old on ROM operating systems.Simple enough, isn't it ? Lantern is correct about the firewall comments. If everyone used a firewall (and used it properly), then DOS attacks would not happen on anywhere near the scale or effectiveness that they do now, because there would not be an army of PC at their command.

That reminds me. A friend who was so tired of certain, and unavoidable pests, bought a piece of software that literally zapped the opposing party's system and fried it!!!!That piece of software cost $1000.00. He said it was worth it. I agree. Every, and I mean everyday I have to run my Trend and delete the BHOG or something like that. There are ten of them every time.Come on .....tell us the secret.......come on man

Same here, my PC is better protected than most. I even have 3 particular secret protections that most people don't have, sorry, but can't tell anybody what they are, for them to work, they have to stay secret.

If your PC has a firewall it would not call out and tie-up anybodies Site.Comprende ? When Hundreds or thousands of PCs Call out at the same time to that particular IP address or site they TIEUP that service-Site-IP-ADDRESS, a trojan on your PC calls out to the site or address; Do you know what a DOS attack is ?If you had a firewall, ET ( the trojan ) would not call out without your permission.In other words, firewalls prevent infected computers from calling out, without your knowledge.That is

DOS attacks can't be prevented by a firewall. They are basically senting enough bogus information to cause your connection to slow down or die alltogether. You have to stop them at the isp/router level. ISP's can stop some of it by kicking infected computers that hackers use off their service.

Denial Of Service, ETs calling home.That is why everybody should have free PC protections, such as a firewall like Zone Alarm and programs like AdAware and SpyBot.Good thing that LP was not affected too much.Good luck.

Things are moving a bit slowly right now due to a DOS attack that is happening on one of the Internet network segments.Nothing to get too upset over; things will be back to normal pretty soon.
