I don't think moving the drawings to Mon-Thu is working for Unlucky for Life. If sales for LS were to go up with the way the game is now, the 6/49 matrix would be especially small.

Guys, if the problem is the jackpot of the game, then the easy solution would be to just move the draw days so the game does not compete with powerball or mega millions for the players' dollars. The easiest way to do so is by holding drawings on mondyas and thursdays.

Somebody should do a comparison of the largest Lotto Virginia jackpot v the largest LS jackpot. To me it just didn't make sense for LS to have the same jackpot odds as one of the games it replaced.

I've only been playing the lottery for a few years, so I wasn't sure what Georgia used to have before Lotto South.I googled Lotto Georgia to see what it was like, and it appears that it was a pretty good game. Lotto Georgia was 6/46. IIRC Lotto Kentucky was 6/42, and Lotto Virginia became Lotto South without changing the 6/49 matrix.

Kentucky is losing businesssince Tennessee has started their lottery. The same will happen to neighboring states when North Carolina institutes their games. The lower-level games will continue to lose ground to the two largest games.Leaving Lotto South won't necessarily help them regain sales. I'm not really sure what the Kentucky Lottery's reasonings were for joining Lotto South. Maybe lottery players in Kentucky aren't playing Lotto South as much as they anticipated.I wouldn't be surprised if the reason Kentucky's dropping it is because Kentucky players rarely win. Georgia and Virginia almost always win the jackpots. I still believe Lotto South's matrix is too small (compare the total populations of Georgia, Kentucky, and Virginia, with New Jersey, which also has a 6/49), especially given that it's a multi-state game that could have (and should have) been offered in at least a fourth state (eg Louisiana, South Carolina). And if KY thinks the LS matrix is too BIG, why did it join LS in the first place

Ya'll seem to be missing the point, in regards to Lotto South. It was never meant to compete directly with PB/MM, which is why the Lotto South states also offer PB/MM. If they wanted Lotto South to compete with PB/MM, they would have just dropped those large jackpot games and only had Lotto South, forcing people to put all their money into Lotto South.They have both games because they're both different, exactly as they intended it to be. It makes more sense to sign up contiguous states MD, SC, and NC in the same manner as Hot Lotto. They need to increase the second-tier prizes to attract more players. They're never going to be able to compete head-on with PB/MM.What happens to the money remaining in the jackpot at the end of a game? Does it all go to the states

It's a damn shame that KY is considering bailing out (and replacing it with a lose for life game, of all things) rather than increasing the matrix and encouraging states like Louisiana and the Carolinas to join.

I believe this next drawing is the first one where the prize amount has been bumped by 1 million. They could keep LS and fill the void with a 5-ball lotter similary to Washington state's Quinto which has better odds, somewhat smaller prizes, and a 1-in-10 chance of getting the lowest prize. As more states (North Carolina) join one of the big two multistate lotteries, PB and MM will continue to eat at away at instate classic lotteries.

The decision to join Lotto South was ill made by our former lottery director whose penchant for greed caused her to take actions which shot her in the foot with declining sales. It showed very clearly with the implementation of the Change Game which was a computer generated farce designed to wring every last penny from players. Their last chance for keeping the game alive is for North Carolina to pick Mega Millions and they also consider adding Lotto South. Adding South Carolina and perhaps Maryland, as well as retaining Georgia, would create the possibility of an Atlantic Coast Conference Lotto. This would all necessitate a realignment of the drawing dates and a larger matrix.

Classic games won't decline as much if they promote what makes them different. Better Jackpot Odds Simpler Gameplay Knowing that all the money will go winners in their home state.The niche is there, they just need to let it be known.

I don't think I want to. Imagine a 6/69 with no match 2 prize. Doesn't sound good does it? Well that's what I imagine Lotto South being if it's that big. Just add 5 balls, add South Carolina, and leave it. We don't need another Mega Millions.

I definately would because I want to see LOTTO South on Mondays and Thursdays so that way people can play any different lotto game every day except Sunday. This is an example from the Texas Lotto when they have Texas Two Step on Monday and Thursday, Mega Millions on Tuesday and Friday, and Lotto Texas on Wednesday and Saturday.

Substituting a bonus ball for the 6th ball would improve the game. The odds for the 3-. 4-. and 5-ball matches would increase and they could increase the corresponding prizes to make the game more attractive, all done without changing the matrix. It might actually result in a bigger jackpot prize as well, depending on sales.

js:NY has a 6/59 game (2 plays/$1), but as everyone knows, that is not my biggest criticism of its game. I'm willing to bet that the combined populations of Georgia, Kentucky, and Virginia is roughly that of NY, whose game has 1:22.5 million odds.

The jackpot odds of Lotto South are 1: ~14 million. Given the populations of GA, KY, and VA, 1:24 million probably would be more appropriate. That would mean a 6/53 or 6/54 game WITHOUT adding a state. The South is rapidly growing.

But they need to be careful with adding more numbers. They don't want to make it too hard, for it's lower odds in comparison to PB and MM are the attraction. And they definately don't want to go to a 5+1 format, or they might find themselves with an even bigger turkey.

Moving the draw nights to avoid conflict with PB probably would work. But I still say the biggest flaw with LS is that its 6/49 matrix is too small. Other southern states might be more willing to join if it had bigger jackpot potential.
