We're closing in on $180 milion in sales. I'm going to have to forget probability and just cross my fingers that it rolls. This roll has seen more than a 60% jump in sales over the previous jackpot, and a similar increase for another roll would mean a single winner would also be a matter of luck rather than probability.

FWIW, a similar jump in sales would push the annuity value to about 525 and the cash to about 310.

There are only three examples of 15th draws, two examples of 16th draws, and one example of 17th draws in MM. In 14th draws (4 examples) the numbers have been all over the place, ranging from 48M to 76M. One 15th draw had sales of 96M, another of 58M.

I don't have any idea what would happen with a rollover and I think you're right on as usual - I don't think any one knows.

There is still some probability of a rollover, so maybe we'll find out.

Even the people running the lottery have trouble estimating how many tickets will be sold at these levels. For the levels that are seen commonly they've got good data to work with and a 10% error is insignificant in real dollars. That make sit pretty easy for them to make a relaible estimate When advertised jackpots go over $200 million there's not much data to work with and there's a lot more unpredictability.

I always look forward to your predictions.

Just curious if you would do a spread as the jackpots get higher. A low-high estimates for a spread. I think the jackpot would go 217-265(or 270)-315 assuming it rolls at all. Sales seem very high (on level with pre-matrix 2004 levels) as the game grows due to the dearth of large jackpots recently.
