I don't have a real preference over whether I prefer fixed or parimutuel prizes. The payout % is a much bigger factor.

Pari-mutuel prizes are a cheap out for a lottery.

Pari-mutuel prizes are a double-edged sword. I wouldn't mind if NY paid that way on MM. I plan to by a CA MM ticket next month, along with a Texas Megaplier ticket.

I was not saying that the other states award $200,000. I was saying that the CA winners got about $200,000 less than the other winners -- which is a correct statement.

Of course, the person who won over $1 million with a 5+0 match not too long ago felt the opposite...

There were record low payouts for California in the Sept 27 Mega Millions draw. The low paramutel payouts were most likely because the drawn numbers were birthday numbers.The payouts for +, 1+, and 2+ matched previous record lows at $1, $2, and $8.The payouts for 3, 3+, 4, 4+ and 5 set new low records at $6, $111, $119, $4,087, and $67,438.Good luck,Jake
