I'd probably tell my parents first-then my brother and dog (she'll be the richest beagle hound ever :) )But word spreads fast in my family so I'm sure they'll know at least 12 hours after we won LOL.

It takes some time once claimed (I think 8 weeks in PA) for the ticket to be validated and for any money to change hands.

I would tell my mother first so she would put in her notice at work after I checked the ticket on the internet. Then the next business day the Oregon lottery to get the check and lastly the bank to deposit the check and for some financial advice on the new money.

I would tell my mom only. I am not married and I am 26 years old...telling anyone else besides the lottery commission and any financial professionals would be too dangerous. I would not even tell my brother until well after I claimed the jackpot. I believe here in Michigan, you don't HAVE to do a press conference but your name IS public record.

since everyone else is asleep when I check the numbers, most likely candidate will be the dogs. once I have calmed down, I'll wake the mrs.kids will not know until they need to... for their safety.

Here in New Jersey you are required to attend a press conference if you win. You may not have to hold the giant check, but you must attend the press conference.

I would only tell the ppl in my lottery pool and they are under oath to not tell another soul until after we claim the prize. Unfortunately the one guy in the pool is better then the American Press and tells things much quicker then a New York ticker tape. So I may just not tell him til the moment we kidnap him and take him to the lottery headquarters. I would tell my wife, daughter, attorney, CFP (certified financial planner), and CPA (certified public accountant). Try to avoid publicity as much as possible, keep quiet, and stay low key until someone else wins the lottery again. (Hopefully, when other person wins, I'll be old news.)man plans, GOD Laughs

My wife and some tax, accountant, and financial planning professionals. I'd become invisible. I certainly wouldn't do like the MM couple who had a press conference. I pray their lives is not disrupted. They think/have faith that they can remain normal with that amount of winnings. My mother. I would have to tell someone where the ticket is just in case something bad happened before I could claim it but after I knew I won I would update my will ASAP and get as much liability insurance also ASAP.
