Sounds to me that you've found Mega Millions to be a very difficult game and aren't winning as much as you might have thought you would. Welcome to Mega Millions!! It isn't supposed to be an easy win so perfect your strategy!! I think it's in California to stay.

The pari-mutuel prize guarantees that the state contributes a fixed percentage to the jackpot after each drawing. It makes sure that when there are few 5-ball winners that the money stays in-state.

Chewie, that has already been said about it going the other way when the fever is over, but that's the price you pay when you gamble! If a gambler can't take the good with the bad, then they shouldn't be gambling! Yes, the grass always looks greener on the otherside, but once you get there, it's just as yellow on that side as it was on the other in the first place

One the initial fever is over, it is possible that those para-mutual dollars could drop to below the standard level, then you might not feel the same way.The grass may look greener on the other side, but there might also be a barbed-wire fence to climb over to get there.

I don't understand what pari-mutuel means. How does this affect a MM winner in California? Does this mean if he/she won, that person will not receive the full amount after taxes

I wouldn't call CA's pari-mutuel MM prize payout a joke. It can go both ways - remember when someone won $1.8 million from matching the five white balls without the mega ball. I'll bet he wasn't calling CA MM a joke

Down, I think you need to get something straight (right off the bat). MM didn't ask California to join! California asked MM if they could join MM! Second It's knew Third It's Different And last but not least, The California Constitution doesn't allow anything but the pari-mutuel payouts as the jackpot grows! why did MM come to california? i don't understand, i think california should drop MM because california is not really a part of the MM family, california to MM is kinda like the long lost relative you never new you had, for one all the ticket sales for california are seperate and the prize amouts are differant california lottery rules are lame stupid pari-mutuel, they should change the prize amouts and make it like all the other states or just drop it. i don't know, what do you guys think, i don...
