I knew it that no one would hit PB on Saturday 10/15. It rolled to 340 million because of the cap rule set by PB for Wednesday 10/19. 13 million are now in the Match 5 bonus pool for Wednesday 10/19. I hope PB rolls on Saturday 10/22 to shatter the North American jackpot record currently held by Mega Millions [formerly The Big Game] of 363 million.

I would love for a new jackpot winner to be identified, only so people can talk about a new record holder other than Jack W. The only thing they'll be able to say about me winning is - the new record holder claimed his winning in Trust and has never been heard from since.

They said they made that rule because some people only play for a record jackpot, and if they had a record jackpot of $700 million this year, they'd miss chances to have records at $400 million, $500 million, etc. They also feel that the opportunity to win millions by matching only the first five white balls would give the game more media attention.

I bet Powerball is hoping the final tally will stay below Jack Whitaker's $314.9 million mark on Saturday, so if it rolls, the jackpot on Wednesday could be $400 million and the cap would go into effect for next Saturday's drawing, if it made it that far.The $300 million advertisement might be just enough to end up with $315m+ at draw time?! If the annuitized value for tomorrow hits $315 million, that's it, a new jackpot record, the cap goes into effect, and the next pot would be $340 million.... [ More ]
