It's not nice to act like Daddy They didn't ...thank God ....and they grew up to be the finest humans I ever knew. After their Mother that is. When I grow up I want to be just like them.

Kids who are *sheltered* by minimal answers rarely explore the possibilities life has to offer. And isn't the lottery a plethora of possibilities! :)You said a mouthful. Smart kids ain't going to take those kind of answers. I used to give my daughter the encyclopedia with the different plastic layers of the inside of the human body to keep her from asking me a lot a questions. It kept her busy for hours. She asked me once how did you get two children?, I said, I got married. Hoping that wil... [ More ]

Answer it in a way that best *satisfies* the childs curiousity without overload. Minimal *qlib* answers never did satiate my thirst for knowledge at 9 or even 6. My aunt took me on a boat cruise that had gambling when I was 8 (yes this was years ago when probably the only real transportation was boats!).She not only answered all my questions in a mannerly way but taught me a thing or two on what to play in cards and slot games. Minors were allowed on the game floor back then just so long as we s... [ More ]

I have an eight year old Daughter and finds out plenty at school from other kids. That is what bugs me. As far as gambling,,,,, my wife and I went to Vegas this past July for our Twentieth. My Daughter new where we were going and what we would be doing. There is enough shows on TV for her to know that what goes on in Vegas, stays in Vegas. What I am trying to say is, even though they are eight, they are much more informed now through TV than in my generation. Heck, my 16 year old son probably co... [ More ]

It depends on how much you're spending but it should be approached no differently from spending at a game arcade. You're playing for the enjoyment of the game and for the hope of winning prizes. He's not quite old enough yet to go to the video arcades set up in the malls.

It's a game that older people enjoy playing. Unlike the video games that the younger people play, this one is sanctioned by the state, to make money for the states. This will lead to questions about why the state needs money, and possible take his mind off of the gambling aspect.BTW, my daughter hates the idea that I play lottery, that's until I win.litebets

If i may reply to the first line......I should have said ....To me, everything in life is a gamble. There are spiritual and natural laws that govern the universe. ....I do believe that, but it is debatable. Read about quantam physics.Apples and oranges?....well....Yes...you can plant oranges in Florida.....unless there is a freeze like we had a couple of years ago. Then there can be minimal harvest. The N.Y.S.E relies on crop reports for orange juice commodities.....There goes that gambling thin... [ More ]

Just my opinion, but I think that I would want to be one of the first to give him or her an explanation, than someone else.. Minimal info will only fuel his or her desire to ask someone else who is willing to satisfy their answer. If a kid doesn't fulfill his inquisitive perception of the world around him or her....persistence by the kid to ask as many others will quench it, until they are satisfied.Atleast that was the way I was, and some of my peripheral friends.

I wouldn't worry too much. If you give a child the proper tools when they are young, along with a lot of love, hugs, acceptance and teach them how to be a winner by applying hard work and diligence, they will grow up to be fine adults. Channel his question asking energy to something about money for him. Plant a seed by taking your son to the bank and let him open a kiddy saving account and when he watches his saving grow, (you will have to give him an allowance for a chore he does every week... [ More ]

What do you tell your kids about the lottery and gambling in general? I have a 8 years old son who asks a lot of questions. He knows I gamble at the local casino and play the lottery and when he asks I tell him little tidbits here and there, sometimes he may over hear too much when I'm talking to my wife so I try to be careful. But other than that I was wondering if anyone had any advice for me on what to say or keep from him? thanks in advance.
