If there was no cap...that would suck. Powerball really had a good idea with this one. IMHO, every draw should be capped at $25M per roll, and any excess will be put in a seperate pool which will roll down to ALL levels upon a jackpot win.

I'd bet there aren't many players who pay attention to whether it's a record jackpot, or isn't.I'd also bet a, say, $50M winner isn't doing a lot of moaning because it wasn't a record jackpot. And finally, I'd bet if it went several draws past the last jackpot and endured the cap, whomever wins it won't ever miss whatever was lost because of the cap.... probably won't even think about it. I don't mind the cap that much, the bonus pool was good. But I would have liked a graduated cap. 25 million the first time it hits the record, if not won, then the next roll goes up 50 million, then $75 million, ect. Very unlikely it would not be hit after the second roll. Stars

I disagree with the cap being a bad idea, but I do think it shouldn't kick in until they're $25 million over the record US jackpot, not simply the record Powerball jackpot. The cap rule is respectful -- Powerball knows when to say enough is enough.

I would agree. I wonder how much more money states would have made had the cap rule not been implimented and states simply advertised the powerplay option. Just say double your winnings and many would have gone for it not looking at the exclaimation point about it not covering the jackpot. Instead they got powerplay for free.

I agree. If they are going to cap the jackpot then it should be a type of winfall game where the extra money roles down to all winners. Either double or increase the value of all lower tier prizes instead of giving it to just the match 5. I mean I bet the match 5 people aren't complaining right now but it just seems that would make better sense. (Did you notice only 2 people purchased powerplay of the 49 that won the prize. What I don't get is why more don't complain about the cap. If you want an extra prize for 2nd place then get the Powerplay. That's what it's there for. If anything it would be a reason NOT to get Powerplay since you are already getting it for free in a sense.

I'm a little disappointed that PB had to do such a cap of 25 million above the highest PB jackpot. I wished that PB had a cap of 25 million above the highest jackpot in North American history. I hope that PB or MM surpasses 363+ million in the future.

If there was no cap the cash option would have been 164.4 million plus 32 million that was given to the bonus for matching five numbers. That means the cash option would have been 196.4 million. Translate that to an annuity figure for Powerball and they jackpot would have been greater than $400,000,000. That would have been some type or record. The first $400 million jackpot. But to bad they decided to go it a different way.Brad
